Flexography

Flexography is a printing technique suitable for printing on large-sized soft materials in particular.

Flexography is a modern technology, recognised for the high-quality even printing of large areas. It is mostly used for foil, cellophane, thermofoil, metallic films, paper, cardboard or carton. Newspapers are printed using flexography in some countries (UK).

The colour space in flexography is the CMYK (4-colour printing). The density of individual inks is an important factor in the print quality.

The printing is done via silicone plates glued to the press roller. Ink is applied to the plates and then transferred to the printed material. The material has to be soft to prevent it from being perforated by the plates.

Flexography uses the strip printing technique. The printed material is stored in strips or sheets. The material is only processed into the final product once printed.
